Overview

The Vice President, Engineering, reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, is responsible for leadership and oversight of the global engineering organization, including Development, QA, Release Management and DevOps.

Major Duties & Responsibilities
  • Create and set a vision including annual roadmaps for the entire engineering organization aligned with organizational growth targets.
  • Identify complex and/or broad problems and issues within assigned technology initiatives and formulate recommendations based on industry standards and practices.
  • Collaborate with leadership across teams to define technical solutions and implementation to drive software maturity and best practices.
  • Drive the reengineering of systems and code for continuous improvement.
  • Review and analyze business metrics to define operational KPIs (delivery, quality, production performance)
  • Work in partnership with Operations leaders, Product Managers, Systems/Data Architects, and Enterprise Programs to define the strategic technical direction of Enterprise systems to ensure alignment with business strategy and objectives.
  • Performs department planning, staff selection, performance management and team development
  • Manages and mentor's direct reports to achieve departmental objectives, leadership skills sets and individual development goals.
  • Facilitate the on-going transition of the engineering department to a scalable, process and documentation-oriented culture
  • Accountable for the efficiency and automation of our software development processes and delivery pipeline in collaboration with Test Engineering, Infrastructure, and functional lead of CI/CD/DevOps.
  • Engage and develop relationships with third party vendors, both locally and overseas
  • Engage and develop professional growth plans and opportunities on both the managerial and the individual contributor growth paths.
Skills, Experience, & Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience managing in a fast paced, complex and dynamic global environment.
  • Experience in building high performance teams and working successfully with multi-location engineering and product teams.
  • Strong systems integration architecture skills and a high degree of technical expertise, ranging across a number of technologies with a proven track record of turning new technologies into business solutions.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels across functions, from both technical and non-technical perspectives alike
  • Proficient managerial skills as required to operate a large organization, including budgeting, resource planning, staff management, etc.
  • Outstanding influential and collaboration skills; ability to drive consensus and tangible outcomes, demonstrated by breaking down silos and fostering cross communication process
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and rapidly guide the organization through change moments
  • Ability to manage large-scale applications in terms of performance, production assurance, capacity planning and threat mitigation
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong knowledge of all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile Scrum methodology
  • Current working knowledge of the Payment and Healthcare industry and its practices preferred
  • The position is virtual and may require up to 10% travel.
